We went to pick up Lizzy this past week as she was in Colorado being bred to Orlando (Windtuck’s Say My Name). It is always fun to visit with pro trainer Ben Garcia and the 5,000 private acres where he trains bird dogs. While visiting and watching him work a gentleman stopped by to chat. He had purchased a puppy from one of Orlando’s previous litters and brought him out for a run. I was excited for the chance to watch one of Orlando’s offspring work birds. There are a lot of things you cannot tell from a picture or description. I was pleased with the confidence in this young male. He had a lot of drive like his sire and was exciting to watch. I am looking forward to Lizzy and Orlando’s forthcoming litter due around the first of June. They should have some excellent genetic traits passed down from their parentage. All the puppies are spoken for.
We were able to take a trip to Colorado a few weeks back to take Sis out for more field trialing. Ben Garcia at Hideaway Kennels has done a great job with some fine brittany dogs. He is currently campaigning Sis’ litter mate brother “Tucker”. I was pleased to get to watch Tucker run and point some birds. Nothing can tell you better if your breeding program is on the right track than watching the puppies grow and develop. Tucker is doing really well in field trials and has a few blue ribbons already. We are getting the same feedback from the other littermates owners. These puppies are smart, they love water, and are natural pointers and retrievers. We are very excited to see what the repeat of this breeding will produce. I feel like we are on the right track.
