Annabella Kennels

November 17th, 2017 No comments

American BrittanyAnnabella Kennels is a full-time gun dog training and breeding facility! We pride ourselves in breeding upland hunting dogs who excel in the field and also make great companions .Our breeding program has been built on decades of research and by traveling the United States from coast to coast, hand picking dogs that would continually produce true to form. We focus on breeding puppies who are focused, intelligent, willing to please, easy to train at home or in the field, naturally point and retrieve, and are great companions. Our dogs can sit and watch the game by the fire on Friday evening and put game in the bag Saturday morning. They are bred to be a loving companion to all in the family including children.

We have a very high standard for our dogs to live up to. With each litter we look to improve the breed and help individuals find their next hunting companion. We continually compare our breeding to others across the country as we have the opportunity to train many dogs each year.

We strive to provide you the best fit for you and your family. If you are looking for a Field test dog, a hunting companion dog, a dog who can keep up with you on your long runs, or one who can make a great family pet, we will take the time to help you find the right dog for your living situation.

This is our passion, this is our life, this is our family. Our dogs are part of our family and very much who we are. Give us a call to discuss what your needs are what dog would make a great addition to your family.

Liver Brittany Puppy and Young Pigeon

One of my favorite things in dog training is starting a young puppy. It is such much fun to watch their instincts come to life and see them blossom before your very eyes. Most bird dogs have the natural ability to be a good hunting companion. We are finding at times the  brittany breed has been bred so much for the show ring that they loose some of that natural bird hunting instinct. That’s why we have hand picked our dogs from all over the country insuring that we are breeding the best we can.

Puppy Time at Annabella Kennels

August 24th, 2014 2 comments

We had two separate litters of puppies this week. Ty X Sis puppies were born August 21st. Sis whelped six healthy puppies, 4 males and 2 females. Five of these Brittany puppies were white and liver with only one white and orange puppy. Next morning, Luke X Lizzy puppies were born. A small litter with only 2 male and 2 females. We are expecting a couple of them to be orange roan like their sire FC Light Em Up Luke.

As always these puppies are loved by my staff of puppy helpers from day one. We feel like a family setting is perfect for raising well socialized puppies. My kids are discussing names for these four puppies pictured above.
They already named Sis’ puppies below. Rose, Belle, Chevy, Nova, Bubba and Cruze.

Annie Turns One

Annie Points 1 year old

We are really pleased with our young female Annie. She came to us from Carter Brittany Kennels in Georgia. She just had a birthday and we celebrated by releasing some quail. She is doing really well on her bird work. She has a lot of drive and a really fun personality. She is quickly becoming one of the favorites with the kids. Annie has a really nice pedigree and we are looking forward to seeing her puppies next year. She spent some time with pro trainer Ben Garcia this fall and wasn’t quite ready for field trials.

Brittany Stud Dog Search

We have been wanting to get our own stud dog for a long time. The trick is in the selection of the very best specimen. There are a lot of things that have to go right for us to keep and then breed a stud dog. Currently we are watching these two young males as they grow and develop. Above is “Doc” out of our Tucker and Lizzy litter. He is liver roan and on the large side for a Brittany. He has a good nose and loves to hunt, however he is a bit hard headed. He is 7 months old right now.

Above is a dog we got from Jessica Carlson. He is a tri-color Brittany out of DC Kinwashkly Dirty Ned Pepper and DC Shadow’s Tequila Tryst. We call him “Jack”. He has turned on quite a bit in the last few weeks. He is currently seven and a half months old. He is good with kids and quite a bit softer temperament than Doc. Both are doing well on birds and obedience.

In the past we have mostly used outside stud dogs traveling to neighboring states with our females in tow. We feel strongly that selecting the right stud dog is crucial in breeding top quality brittany puppies. See our goals for breeding page to learn more about what we strive to produce. Developing our own stud dogs will help us better to achieve our goals.

Doc Pointing Birds

Doc Retrieves To Hand

Our liver roan male puppy we kept from the Lizzy X Tucker litter is really turning out nicely. He loves his birds and is starting to point a little better. He has a really soft mouth and loves to retrieve birds. We love his roan coloring and most of all his chipper personality. He is very smart and catches on fast when learning new things. We are sending him off for a month or two of professional bird dog training. We have high hopes for this young pup.

Annabella’s Doc Holliday

Brittany Male - Doc First Point 6wks

Doc was the standout puppy from our recent Lizzy X Tucker brittany litter. He has shown great bird drive and pointing instincts. He did very well on his bird introduction at the training grounds and was always searching the perimeter for more birds. We like his looks and his personality. He is going to be a heavy liver roan color like his sire Tucker. He is calm and easy going around the house and good with the kids. But, he shows a ton of drive in the field.

In the litter photos he was known as PigPen and since we decided to keep him we have renamed him Doc. His official registered name will be Annabella’s Doc Holliday after the famous gunslinger in the old wild west. We look forward to watching Doc grow and develop as he continues his bird dog training.

Only one of them was liver/white (a female puppy) and the rest orange and white. Check back here to watch these puppies grow. YouTube Videos Note: These Puppies are all SOLD.
